Wellington Women's House

We’re on the look out for a new support worker

  • – Are you one of those unflappable, no nonsense, want to make a difference kind of people?
  • – Are you passionate about seeing women transform their lives?

Wellington Women’s Boarding House is seeking a women-centred, well-organised part-time Support Worker.

If you have the following skills and experience we would love to hear from you:

  • Experience of working with marginalised, low income or vulnerable people.
  • Experience of developing, maintaining and sustaining excellent relationships with partner organisations.
  • Knowledge of homelessness and its challenges, particularly in relation to women.
  • Practical and common-sense approach to client work.
  • Demonstrate sound judgement at all times.
  • Calm and composed in the face of challenging situations.

Wellington Women’s Boarding House is a truly unique place: begun in 1992, the House is conveniently located in Mount Victoria and provides low-cost, comfortable, short to mid-term accommodation for 16 women.  The Support Worker and Manager work in partnership with the Management Committee, a small group of women volunteers who provide a governance and management role for the House.

This is an opportunity to make a difference for women.  The role is 0.5 (20 hours per week) which will involve some weekend work.

To apply please forward your C.V., a covering letter highlighting your suitability for the role and the completed candidate declaration form via our Seek advertisement. We are sorry but we will not be able to consider applications without all three documents.

Interviews will be held week commencing 22 May 2017.
